In this paper, the existence, both locally and globally in time, the uniqueness of solutions and the non-existence of global solutions to the initial boundary value problem ofa generalized Modification of the Improved Boussinesq equation utt - uxx - uxxtt = σ(u)xx are studied and a few examples are discussed.
