This study was carried out to find capability of simultaneous removal of organic matters and nutrients using High-rate Anaerobic Reactor (HAR) and Moving Media Intermittent Aeration Reactor (MMIAR) for the wastewater treatment. A laboratory reactor was operated at 46L/m2/day of hydraulic loading rate. The number of intermittent aeration and the ratio of oxic/anoxic time in MMIAR were varied at the same loading rate. The results showed that the COD and BOD removal efficiencies were above 95% without concern of the number of intermittent aeration and the ratio of oxic/anoxic time in MMIAR. In addition, maximizing denitrification in MMIAR turned out to be the most important factor on simultaneous removal of organic matters and nutrients.
