The new diesel locomotive for DB Regio is one for hauling moderately heavy trains. It has a top speed of 160 km/h and a C2 route availability. The locomotive incorporates the most modern technical systems currently available. Given the extensive synergistic effects along with the other classes making up Deutsche Bahn's TRAXX fleet, the new locomotive fits in harmoniously with the other new acquisitions. This has a positive impact on life-cycle costs. The new locomotive's multi-engine drive system not only helps reduce LCCs, but is setting new standards as regards the environmental friendliness of diesel locomotives. The available range of technical options ensures that it will be possible to deploy the new locomotive in an optimum manner in responding to current and future calls for tenders for transport services.
