The control of Frankliniella occidentalis on vegetable and fruit crops continues to pose problems. Over the past ten years a great deal of work has been carried out in France and the rest of the world in an attempt to develop effective integrated protection strategies. The are several authorized insecticides against Thrips on vegetable and fruit crops in France. Only two however have undergone studies of their effectiveness against F. occidentalis. During the interseason, disinfection of greenhouses can be useful. Finally, in biological control one mite and one bug species are used in greenhouses, and other biological agents are currently being studied. The article gives advice for integrated management of aubergine, pepper, tomato, cucumber, melon, strawberry and peach crops.
