We have measured the effect of elastic strain ε on the threshold field ET of NbSe3. The minimum in ET versus temperature T, Emin, doubles at ε~1% for the upper charge-density wave (CDW) but increases by about 10% for the lower CDW. Using a plot of ET versus the reduced temperature t=T/Tp(ε), where Tp(ε) is the Peierls transition, we show that tmin, the temperature where ET goes through a minimum, is independent of ε.
