The uranium(IV) hexathiolatecomplexes [(thf)3Na(μ-SR)3U(μ-SR)3Na(thf)3] (thf=tetrahydrofuran; R=Bun, Pri, But or Ph) were prepared by treatment of UCl4 or U(BH4)4 with the corresponding NaSR reagent. The crystal structures of the tert- butyl and phenyl derivatives have been determined. Reaction of U(SBun)4 with NaSBun gave the anion [U(SBun)6]2- which, by protonation with NEt3HBPh4, was transformed back into U(SBun)4.
