Nuclear shadowing (NS) corrections to the deuteron structure function F2D(x) in the diffrctive scattering region (x<<1) are calculated. Perturbative DCQ is exploited. The NS corrections are shown to be numerically large. it is emphasized that neglect of nuclear shadowing leads to the underestimation of the neutron structure function F2n(x) and, as a result, to the gross overestimation of the Gottfried integral ∫01[F2(x)-F2n(x)]dx/x.
