La spectrométrie RMN du proton et du phosphore 31 et la spectrométrie IR ont été utilisées pour identifier les produits formés au cours des réactions. La substitution du coordinat cyclooctadiène par la triphénylphosphine aboutit à l'isomère cis du complexe du platine.
