Differential expression of MDH isozymes in sporophytic and gametophytic tissues of Prunus spinosa

In this study the expression of malate dehydrogenases in different sporophytic tissues and pollen tissue of black thorn (Prunus spinos L.) was analysed. The results showed that in comparison with different sporophytic tissues only the pollen and possibly the anther tissue of black thorn revealed an additional MDH zone. Potential physiological functions of this additional MDH zone especially in the pollen of black thorn were discussed.
