Let q be any nonnegative real number, and T ≤ . For the degenerate singular semilinear parabolic initial-boundary value problem xqut - uxx = f(u) for 0 < x < a, 0 < t < T, u(x,0) = 0 for 0≤x≤a, u(0,t) = 0 = u(a,t) for 0 < t < T, it is shown that it is impossible for its unique solution u to quench in infinite time.
