Council continues fight for 30 acres today .The London County Council is being asked today ( Tuesday ) to approve the presentation in Parliament of a ' Bill ' enabling it to build houses on 30 acres of Hackney Marshes , the 340 acres of which forms the greatest open space in East London .The LCC proposal is to build dwellings for about 8000 people as part of slum clearance in Hackney and Bethnal Green .The scheme was recently held up by a legal decision which held that nothing in the Housing Act of 1925 permits the appropriation of Hackney Marshes for building .
