Malgré les progrès psychopharmacologiques réalisés au cours du siècle dernier, l'adaptation sociale des patients souffrant de schizophrénie reste précaire. Ainsi, le développement de nouvelles techniques thérapeutiques spécifiques apparaît indispensable pour limiter le handicap social de ces patients. Pour cela, une meilleure connaissance des facteurs prédictifs de l'adaptation sociale de ces sujets apparaît essentielle. En effet, si certains de ces facteurs ne sont pas modifiables, il est possible d'agir sur d'autres grâce à des techniques développées ces dernières années et appelées techniques de réadaptation psychosociale.
