Most of the material of business ethics focuses primarly on managerial responsibilities regarding others ; staff, clients, suppliers, shareholders, etc. However, an ethical approach to entrepreneurial culture should take account also of other participants, particularly those in a position of subordination. What happens if they are confronted with obvious immoral behaviour of their superiors ? In this article, the dimensions of moral powerlessness are analyzed and specified. As moral action is in an important sense related to the organizational environment, thus influencing the expectations and opportunities which define the moral horizon, it is important to develop institutional channels through which « voice » can be given to moral objections. Finally, some suggestions are made to counter moral powerlessness by strengthening and specifying the social bonds within the enterprise.
