Les données sur les brevets des entreprises sont analysées au niveau des villes et des régions canadiennes entre 1975 et 1979 pour distinguer les modèles spatiaux de l'innovation. Les villes des Provinces Maritimes sont en retard. Les villes moyennes ont maintenu leur dynamisme pendant les années 1980. L'innovation est en déclin à Montréal, Toronto et Vancouver car elle se déplace en périphérie. L'agitation politique a joué également un grand rôle à Montréal au début des années 1980. Les principales villes de l'Ontario du Sud ont maintenu leur capacité innovante entre 1975 et 1989. - (MP).
