This thesis describes a low-voltage and low-power current-mode CMOS circuit with logarithmic transfer characteristic. The presented circuit design employs one fully-differential operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) and two transistors biased in weak inversion region. Different OTA structures are used to realize the proposed circuit. The simulations of the proposed logarithmic function circuit have been carried out based on the model parameters provided by the TSMC 0.18um CMOS technology with a DC supply voltage of +0.6 V. The simulation result proved that the logarithmic circuit using fully differential OTA has larger bandwidth compared to the previous work using single-ended OTA. The fully differential OTA also has better immunity to environmental common-mode noise. The HSPICE simulated results validate the workability of the proposed circuit.
