This work describes the effects of erosion on the heat transfer characteristics on thrust vector control vanes exposed to aluminized propellant exhaust flows. This was accomplished using an inverse heat transfer parameter identification of quaner scale models. The model is based on a four node lumped parameter system with two heat energy inputs. The erosion is modeled as decreasing the geometric dimensions linearly as a function of time and percentage of aluminum in the propellant. Excellent agreement was found between experimental and model temperature profiles. The heat transfer coefficients of the vanes were found to decrease with increasing erosion rates.
