  • Claim: 1. An apparatus for an access point (AP), the apparatus comprising memory; and processing circuitry coupled to the memory, the processing circuitry configured to: encode, for transmission, a null data packet announcement (NDPA) frame; and encode, for transmission a short interframe space after transmitting the NDPA frame, a number of duplicate long-training fields (LTFs), wherein a number of symbols of a LTF of the duplicate LTFs is based on a number of spatial streams.
  • Claim: 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: encode the NDPA frame to comprise a subfield indicating the number of duplicate LTFs.
  • Claim: 3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: encode the NDPA frame to comprise a station information field, the station information field comprising a subfield indicating the number of duplicate LTFs.
  • Claim: 4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the subfield is one or more of bits B20, B29, B30, and B31 of the station information field.
  • Claim: 5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: encode the number of duplicate LTFs in a same number of null data packet (NDPs), wherein each NDP of the same number of NDPs comprises a duplicate LTF of the number of duplicate LTFs; and transmit the NDPs sequentially with a short interframe space separation between NDPs of the same number of NDPs.
  • Claim: 6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: encode the NDPA frame to indicate the number of spatial streams.
  • Claim: 7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: process the duplicate LTFs to comprise overlays.
  • Claim: 8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein each of the LTFs of the number of duplicate LTFs comprise a same sequence of 1s, 0s, and −1s.
  • Claim: 9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: encode each LTF of the number of duplicate LTFs in a null data packet (NDP).
  • Claim: 10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: encode the NDP to comprise an indication of the number of duplicate LTFs.
  • Claim: 11. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: encode the NDP to comprise an indication of the number of spatial streams (NSS).
  • Claim: 12. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: encode the NDPA frame to comprise an indication of the number of duplicate LTFs; and encode the NDP to comprise an indication that LTFs in the NDP are duplicated.
  • Claim: 13. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to: decode, from a station in response to the number of duplicate LTFs, a compressed beamforming frame, the compressed beamforming frame comprising channel quality indicators in response to the number of duplicate LTFs.
  • Claim: 14. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein an AP multi-link device (MLD) comprises the AP.
  • Claim: 15. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising transceiver circuitry coupled to the processing circuitry, the transceiver circuitry coupled to two or more microstrip antennas for receiving signaling in accordance with a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique.
  • Claim: 16. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising transceiver circuitry coupled to the processing circuitry, the transceiver circuitry coupled to two or more patch antennas for receiving signaling in accordance with a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique.
  • Claim: 17. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions for execution by one or more processors of an access point (AP), the instructions to configure the one or more processors to: encode, for transmission, a null data packet announcement (NDPA) frame; and encode, for transmission, a number of duplicate long-training fields (LTFs), wherein a number of symbols of a LTF of the LTFs is based on a number of spatial streams, wherein a number of symbols of a LTF of the duplicate LTFs is based on a number of spatial streams.

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 17, wherein the instructions further configure the one or more processors to: encode the number of duplicate LTFs in a same number of null data packet (NDPs), wherein each NDP of the same number of NDPs comprises a duplicate LTF of the number of duplicate LTFs; and transmit the same number of NDPs sequentially with a short interframe space separation.
  • Claim: 19. A method performed on a station (STA), the method comprising: decoding, from an access point (AP), a null data packet announcement (NDPA) frame; and decoding, a short interframe space after receiving the NDPA frame, a number of duplicate long-training fields (LTFs), wherein a number of symbols of a LTF of the LTFs is based on a number of spatial streams indicated by the NDPA frame.

The method of claim 19, further comprising: encoding, for transmission to the AP, in response to the number of duplicate LTFs, a compressed beamforming frame, the compressed beamforming frame comprising channel quality indicators, the channel quality indicators based on received signals of the number of duplicate LTFs.
