  • Claim: 1. A power supply for a generator control circuit comprising: a generator; a low-power bias supply comprising a first input and a first output, the first input coupled to an output of the generator and the first output coupled to a valve circuit; a generator control unit (GCU) main internal power supply comprising a second input and a second output, the second input coupled to the output of the generator and the second output coupled to the valve circuit; and a controller configured to: monitor a characteristic associated with the generator; cause the low-power bias supply to provide power to the valve circuit when the characteristic of the generator is within a first range of characteristic values; and cause the GCU main internal power supply to provide power to the valve circuit when the characteristic of the generator is within a second range of characteristic values.
  • Claim: 2. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the first range of characteristic values is lower than the second range of characteristic values.
  • Claim: 3. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the first range of characteristic values overlaps with the second range of characteristic values.
  • Claim: 4. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the first range of characteristic values does not overlap with the second range of characteristic values.
  • Claim: 5. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the valve circuit comprises a servo-valve or servo-valve drive circuit.
  • Claim: 6. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the second output is further coupled to a GCU control circuit.
  • Claim: 7. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein providing power to the valve circuit by the low-power bias supply responsive to a characteristic value of the generator being within a first range of characteristic values comprises: operating one or more switches coupled between the first output and the valve circuit to allow for power to be supplied to the valve circuit from the low-power bias supply.
  • Claim: 8. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein providing power to the valve circuit by the second power converter responsive to the characteristic value of the generator being within the second range of characteristic values comprises: operating one or more switches coupled between the second output and the valve circuit to allow for power to be supplied to the valve circuit from GCU main internal power supply.
  • Claim: 9. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the generator comprises a permanent magnet generator.
  • Claim: 10. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the low-power bias supply comprises a low-power converter.
  • Claim: 11. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the characteristic associated with the generator comprises an output voltage.
  • Claim: 12. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the characteristic associated with the generator comprises a generator shaft speed.
  • Claim: 13. The power supply of claim 1 , wherein the characteristic associated with the generator comprises a frequency of the generator.
  • Claim: 14. A method comprising: providing a generator; providing a low-power bias supply comprising a first input and a first output, the first input coupled to an output of the generator and the first output coupled to a valve circuit; providing a generator control circuit (GCU) main internal power supply comprising a second input and a second output, the second input coupled to the output of the generator and the second output coupled to the valve circuit; monitoring, by a controller, a characteristic associated with the generator; causing, by the controller, the low-power bias supply to provide power to the valve circuit when the characteristic of the generator is within a first range of characteristic values; and causing, by the controller, the GCU main internal power supply to provide power to the valve circuit when the characteristic value of the generator being within a second range of characteristic values.
  • Claim: 15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the first range of characteristic values is lower than the second range of characteristic values.
  • Claim: 16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the first range of characteristic values overlaps with the second range of characteristic values.
  • Claim: 17. The method of claim 14 , wherein the valve circuit comprises a servo-valve or servo-valve drive circuit.
  • Claim: 18. The method of claim 14 , wherein the second output is further coupled to a GCU control circuit.
  • Claim: 19. The method of claim 14 , wherein providing power to the valve circuit by the low-power bias supply responsive to a characteristic value of the generator being within a first range of characteristic values comprises: operating one or more switches coupled between the first output and the valve circuit to allow for power to be supplied to the valve circuit from the low-power bias supply.
  • Claim: 20. The method of claim 14 , wherein providing power to the valve circuit by the GCU main internal power supply responsive to the characteristic value of the generator being within the second range of characteristic values comprises: operating one or more switches coupled between the second output and the valve circuit to allow for power to be supplied to the valve circuit from the GCU main internal power supply.
