These three essays focus on the creation and sustenance of learning communities among students and instructors at the college and university level. The essays are: (1) "Creating and Sustaining Learning Communities" (Carolyn Dudgeon), which emphasizes a seamless educational continuum for lifelong learners in a collaborative, caring environment that incorporates modern computer and multimedia technology; (2) "Creating and Sustaining Learning Communities: The PHE Scholars Program" (Timothy M.
