'Cleft Palate Speech-Complex (CPS-C)': first speech assessment for clients with cleft palate speech in German speaking countries. Development and first evaluation.

Children with cleft lip and palate are subject to negative conditions to speech development, which cause and sustain pathological nasality, orofacial dysfunctions and disordered articulation. Until now there doesn't exist an comprehensive assessment for cleft palate speech in the German speaking area, which could record the correlations of the communication disorder sufficiently. Because of this drawback in a research project of the University of Cologne/Germany the new diagnostic- and documentation material 'Cleft Palate Speech-Complex/CPS-C' was developed for all age-groups. 'CPS-C' is orientated on components of the ICF(-CY), especially on domains of Activities and Participation. Furthermore it implements international minimal standards of CPS-assessments.
