This article reports that the Crime Writers Association (CWA) is poised to launch a new bi-annual prize for translated crime fiction, less than a fortnight after its controversial move to ban translated novels from its top Dagger award. The news came as the association announced a new sponsorship deal with Duncan Lawrie Private Bank, which agreed to boost the prize money for the top award from £3,000 to £20,000. The hike in funds will see the traditional Gold Dagger renamed the Duncan Lawrie Dagger, and follows controversial decisions by the CWA to drop its Silver Dagger second prize and bar translated works from competing.
