The article reports that water striders can jump and skate on water without drowning. It states that the structure of the legs of these insects have hydrophobic hairs that results to highly water-repellent surface and is believe to help them move on water because the small hydrophobic objects can sink with a delay and float even if their density is greater than that of the water. It also notes on the study conducted by Lee and Kim on the impact behavior of small superhydrophobic spheres and they found out that the spheres oscillates on the surface while afloat at low impact velocity.
