Roosevelt as “Friend of France”—But Which One?

The article examines which of the U.S. Presidents, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) and Theodore Roosevelt (TR), has been considered as a friend of France. According to the author, TR has been regarded by the French as their friend. TR's care about democracy in France and the wartime policy he developed have resulted to bilateral relationship between the U.S. and France. In addition, the foreign policy and the domestic political economy during the time of TR have directed French toward his intentions. Information related to the comparative assessment between FRD and TR and the inquiry on why French valued more the works of TR is presented.
